Hi, guys! Today we’re hosting a great debut author, Mary Lindsey, whose book, Shattered Souls, comes out December 8th from Penguin Teen.

About Shattered Souls:
Lenzi hears voices and has visions – gravestones, floods, a boy with steel gray eyes. Her boyfriend, Zak, can’t help, and everything keeps getting louder and more intense. Then Lenzi meets Alden, the boy from her dreams, who reveals that she’s a reincarnated Speaker – someone who can talk to and help lost souls – and that he has been her Protector for centuries.
Now Lenzi must choose between her life with Zak and the life she is destined to lead with Alden. But time is running out: a malevolent spirit is out to destroy Lenzi, and he will kill her if she doesn’t make a decision soon.
Top Ten Things Most People Don’t Know About Mary Lindsey:
1. I wore braces for six years as a kid, and now am back in them again. My orthodontist loves me. At least this time, I have Invisalign and not a mouth full of metal.
2. I’m right handed, but left footed. I know this because I was a gymnast and tumbled left.
3. I’m allergic to books. Really. I had allergy testing done when I was a kid, and the doctor made a bunch of pricks on my back and arms where he injected allergens just under the skin. My number one allergy was book dust. I kid you not. The kind of dust made by books breaking down. The saddest thing is I didn’t believe it until I couldn’t shake a runny nose and headaches after I began collecting antique books. Now, they are behind glass and all is well—including me.
4. I can’t write unless my hair is pulled back. I have no idea why.
5. I never dreamed of being a writer. I became one by accident (one of the best things to ever happen to me)!
6. My favorite art form is musical theatre.
7. I wear the same size shoes as both of my daughters. I spend a lot of time searching their rooms for my shoes.
8. It is almost impossible to embarrass me. Truly. I grew up in theatre, and am impervious to embarrassment. I try to conform to social dictates, though. Really, I do.
9. I tie my bows upside down. They come untied a lot.
10. I have a writing mascot, a sheep named Beeyaaa, and usually take him with me wherever I go that I plan to write. Because he’s big, I have several smaller versions that travel more easily. Here he is:
Here’s the fun part!
You can win your very own smaller version of Beeyaaa! Just leave a comment, and the winner will be drawn from a hat—or bowl—or whatever. The winner will be chosen and announced in the comments for this post one week from today (Tuesday, August 23rd).
(Christine’s aside: Beeyaaa is so cute! I wish I could enter this giveaway.)
If you want to see the rest of the Shattered Souls Blog Tour schedule, visit The Teen Book Scene. Unfortunately my review isn’t scheduled until November, but you can be sure you’ll be hearing about this book before then. It’s so good! Thanks to Mary for letting us into her world a little bit. And don’t forget to leave a comment! Good luck.

THAT IS SO CUTE!!
You’re amazing!!
Mary, you are too funny! =D I wish I was like you and could be not so easily embarrassed. Sadly, that is not the case. =P Also, I remember you telling me that you were allergic to book dust. That is so sad!! But at least you have Beeyaaa! He is adorable. I am so entering into this giveaway!!
I’ve heard of people wearing braces as kids & then having to wear them again as adults. Why do you have to wear them again? It worries me because I’ve had them for well…definitely longer than 6 years, and if I have to wear them again when I’m older, I might just cry. x_x
Anyway, Beeyaaa is adorable. Great giveaway!
Hi, A.J. I wore braces for 6 years when I was a kid and teen. My teeth shifted. This time, I’m going to wear my retainer until I am wearing dentures!
What a fun post and neat giveaway!
Mary Lindsey is so funny! I met her once recently. I can’t wait to read her book!

It’s such a tragedy to be allergic to books! Well the dust, but still. Good thing she has that adorable sheep to comfort her.
