You may recall that back in April I participated in Dewey’s 24hour Read-a-thon. Well, Saturday, October 13th is the autumn run of the Read-a-thon and I am once again getting up ridiculously early to participate.
This post will be my updates post and I think I’m going to try to steal some of my friend Alita’s formatting because she is ten times as organized as I am about these things.
I will be chatting away with people on Twitter, do please look for me there!
And even if it’s completely last minute, you should join in the reading fun!
5am – Hour One
I’m setting this part up beforehand, being optimistic that I’m actually going to wake up. :/ Let’s all assume, I’m sitting up in bed with a giant cup of boiling hot tea beside me and diving into a good book. I believe I will be starting with Venom by Fiona Paul (which I’m already half done) and then moving on to A Witch in Winter by Ruth Warburton which I’m really, really excited for!
My #readathon books
EDIT: I’m up, I have tea and…uh…I wish I was still asleep. But, no time for that! Time to dive into a good book and hopefully cheer some other people along!
Lets get this reading party started!
7:00am – Hour Three – 175 pages Read
Finished Venom by Fiona Paul. Think I’m going to comment on some blog posts before starting my next book!
Also, I think it might be time for a yogurt covered raisin. Readathon snacks are just as important to the readathon as the books.
7:45am – Hour Three – 175 Pages Read – 3 Blogs Commented On.
Short break became a 45 minute break…but whatever now I have bacon! And another giant cup of awesome tea. And I thought I’d take this opportunity to answer the Introductory Questionnaire!
1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
I’m in the wonderfully rainy city of Vancouver.
2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
A Witch in Winter by Ruth Warburton which I’ve been meaning to read for over a year!
3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
My bacon! Also raisin bread and yogurt covered raisins. Also gherkins. And extra old cheddar on yummy crackers. And some soup. ALL THE SNACKS!
4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
I’m in my twenties, floundering in a non-existent career with no idea what I want to do with my life. I like to read and write!
5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?
This is my second readathon!
Things I am planning on doing differently: Start the readathon with bacon in the house! Take a midafternoon nap. Do not go on a 5 hour hike in the evening.
9:01 am – Hour 4 – 216 Pages Read – 4 Cheer Comments
Have to get ready to go sell some cookies in the rain. Hopefully I wont freeze to death, and hopefully I’ll get some good reading time in. Should be back around 2:30pm!
Happy reading everyone!
6:07pm – Hour 13 – 312 Pages Read – 4 Blogs Commented On
So. I sold cookies for four hours, talked to my mother for a bit, had an awesome lunch and an awesome nap and I’m now ready to get back into some serious reading!
My goal is to finish A Witch in Winter by 9pm, do some cheering, then move on to A Witch in Love. Here’s hoping that goal works out!
Current snack: yogurt covered raisins and cranberry gingerale! Reading Location: Bed, it was just to warm and comfy after the nap to leave.
9:38pm – Hour 17 (when did that happen??) – 528 Pages Read – 8 Blogs Commented On
Have finished A Witch in Winter! It was pretty good. Though, it didn’t do anything spectacular with the paranormal romance genre…or witches really. But, still, I love anything with witches!
I’ve moved on to reading A Witch in Love, it’s sequel. I’m hoping for more background info, more action and more romance. And hopefully none of the love triangle that was vaguely hinted at. :/
Snack wise, I’ve got brie, crackers, salami and a cupcake. And I’m still nursing my Cranberry Ginger Ale. Also! I found two litres of Raspberry Ginger Ale in the fridge for after I’m done this can. Awesome.
I’m hoping to make it until 1:30am tonight. I have to be at work at 10am in the morning so I’m not going to let myself last the entire night. Not sure if I could….I guess I’ll never know.
