I know what you’re thinking, because I was thinking the same thing when I saw this on Net Galley. Another angel book? Why do publishers do this?

I don’t understand it either. But I am glad they published this one. It’s so darn cute. It makes me want to squee.

So, Clara is an angel-blood. A descendant of an angel and a human. Other than the wings, and the glowing, and the healing fast, and being good at everything, she’s just a normal girl…right? Well, and she has her purpose. Her reason for being on the planet, the one moment in time where she must do this one thing, and then after that her life will be her own. The purpose causes her mother to move Clara and her brother across the country from California to Wyoming. And there she sees him. The boy her purpose is all about.

And THEN just when you think it’s going to be like every single other paranormal book you’ve ever read, it mixes things up! I love it! The love triangle? Not really a triangle. It’s clear from early on that both Clara and Christian (the boy her purpose is about) may be fated but they don’t really know one another. They have other people in their lives, and other problems.

Plus there’s Clara’s mother, who is such a mystery. Now, I’m not usually a fan of characters that know more information then they are telling. And there were sometimes when I wanted to slap Clara’s mother. But other times, you could see that there was a lot going on with her, and that she is one of the big mysteries in the story. I have a theory…but I shouldn’t say in case it is spoilery. But I like my theory. That is all.

And then there’s Tucker. Sigh. The relationship between Clara and Tucker is slow building and based on real things not “love at first site,” or whatever. They had meaningful conversations and spent a lot of time together before Clara was even sure that she liked him. Even though she knew she had this fate-thing with Christian. Oh, it was perfect. I loved every second when Clara and Tucker were on the page together. It was so perfect. And CUTE!

One thing I didn’t like about the book, which also seems to be happening a lot recently was how it just seemed to stop. Not really an ending or a conclusion. It just dealt with the one thing and then…stopped. I understand there’s going to be more books, but it just seemed to abrupt to me. On the flip side, it did leave me desperate for more, so, I suppose it fulfilled its purpose.

Other than that, I loved the ending. The climatic scene was dealt with fantastically, and I was truly shocked by the twist at the end. Although, you shouldn’t use that to judge. I’m ALWAYS shocked at the twist, never see them coming. M. Night Shyamalan has gotten me every single time. But, still, I loved the twist and the choices everyone made and how it completely changed everything that both Clara and the reader knew about angels.

Although, it made me hate her mom a little more for withholding information. Why do characters do this? Grrrr.

Makes me angry.

But really, cutest book ever. It comes out January 4th, 2011. Read it or …you know, miss out on the cuteness. Which is inadvisable.

ALSO! Is the cover not gorgeous? And does anyone else harbor a suspicion that they used the same font as Beautiful Creatures/Darkness??? Yes? I think so.
