So, a couple weeks Kate had the realization (that completely escaped my notice) that we were, once again, approaching the end of the year and we had better fill out that survey we sent around last year. You know, so that we aren’t the only blog without a sum up of the year.

We put in place the same rules as last year. You must have read the book in 2011, but it can have come out BEFORE 2011. Forthcoming titles from 2012 were not allowed…except in the question that we added so that we could mention them. Because we are nothing if not cheaters.

I would love to hear your answers to the questions in the comments!

 1. Favorite Book of 2011

Leiah: Divergent by Veronica Roth

Kate: The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater

Caitlin: Froi of the Exiles (It was published in 2011 in Australia and totally counts)

Christine: Rot & Ruin by Jonathan Maberry — it was published in 2010 but I didn’t read it until March 2011

2. Book (from 2011) you wish more people would read?

Leiah: Ruby Red by Kerstin Gier

Kate: Circle of Fire by Michelle Zink. Really, the whole Prophecy of the Sisters trilogy.

Caitlin: Legacy by Cayla Kluver

Christine: As I Wake by Elizabeth Scott

3. Favorite Cover

Leiah: Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs

Kate: Entwined by Heather Dixon, in part for being pretty much the only “girl in a gorgeous dress” cover to actually make sense with its book.

Caitlin: I was going to say Entwined by Heather Dixon but SOMEONE stole that answer….so, I was thinking Between the Sea and Sky by Jaclyn Dolamore

Christine: The Girl in the Steel Corset by Kady Cross

4. Favorite Tearjerker (feel free to describe the moment that made you cry, in an unspoilery way)

Leiah: Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma – EVERY. SINGLE. WORD.

Kate: Where She Went by Gayle Foreman. I feel like this is a choice that needs no explanation.

Caitlin: Froi of the Exiles by Melina Marchetta. Not only did I cry but I was sad for DAYS afterward.

Christine: Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma — I haven’t cried that hard from a book since Snape died.

5. Favorite series conclusion?

Leiah: The Dark and Hollow Places by Carrie Ryan

Kate: The Dark and Hollow Places Waves by Carrie Ryan

Caitlin: Circle of Fire by Michelle Zink

Christine: Forever by Maggie Stiefvater

Leiah: Red Glove by Holly Black

Kate: Red Glove by Holly Black

Caitlin: Froi of the Exiles by Melina Marchetta

Christine: Uncommon Criminals by Ally Carter

8. Favorite Comedy?

Leiah: Beauty Queens by Libba Bray (I know it’s satire, but I laughed a lot)

Kate: Demonglass by Rachel Hawkins. Not a true comedy, but it made me smile.

Caitlin: Spellbound by Cara Lynn Shultz – it’s not strictly a comedy but it was a fun book!

Christine: Bloodlines by Richelle Mead — it might not be listed as comedy, but Adrian cracks me up

9. Favorite male lead?

Leiah: Four from Divergent

Kate: Thomas Mackee from Melina Marchetta’s The Piper’s Son, who only just edged out Will Herondale from Cassandra Clare’s Clockwork Prince.

Caitlin: Is a tie between Cricket from Lola and the Boy Next Door and Adrian from Bloodlines.

Christine: I only get one?? *pulls out hair* Um… Sam from The Wolves of Mercy Falls

10. Favorite female lead?

Leiah: Karou from Daughter of Smoke and Bone

Kate: Karou from Laini Taylor’s Daughter of Smoke and Bone

Caitlin: Elisa from Girl of Fire and Thorns and Tessa from Clockwork Prince and Karou from Daughter of Smoke and Bone and Daphne from The Space Between and Azalea from Entwined and Sidney from Bloodlines! (yeah….)

Christine: Katarina Bishop from Heist Society

11. Favorite Debut author.

Leiah: Kendare Blake (Anna Dressed in Blood)

Kate: Kendare Blake

Caitlin: Rae Carson.

Christine: Aimee Carter — The Goddess Test

12. What book are you most looking forward to in 2012?

Leiah: Bitterblue by Kristin Cashore

Kate: This question is almost impossible for next year, so I’m picking three. 1) Series Conclusion – Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare; 2) Series continuation – Insurgent by Veronica Roth; and 3) Non-Fantasy/Paranormal – Out of Sight, Out of Time by Ally Carter. Though they’d probably rank in that order anyway.

Caitlin: Quintana of Charyn by Melina Marchetta, Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare, Eternally Yours by Cate Tiernan.

Christine: Darkness Falls by Cate Tiernan, Flesh & Bone by Jonathan Maberry and The Madness Underneath by Maureen Johnson

13.Favorite ARC slated for 2012?

Leiah: Pure by Juliana Baggott

Kate: Temptation of Angels by Michelle Zink

Caitlin: Incarnate by Jodi Meadows, Cinder by Marissa Meyer, Born Wicked by Jessica Spotswoon and Darkness Fallsby Cate Tiernan. I have trouble choosing just one…

Christine: Exile by Rebecca Lim – not technically an ARC, but it isn’t out in the USA yet.

14. Least Favorite Book

Leiah: Wither by Lauren DeStephano

Kate: Beauty Queens by Libba Bray

Caitlin: Carrier of the Mark by Leigh Fallon

Christine: A Beautiful Dark by Jocelyn Davies

15. Biggest Disappointment

Leiah: Witches of East End by Melissa de la Cruz

Kate: Shatter Me by Taherah Mafi

Caitlin: Supernaturally by Kiersten White – Because Paranormalcy was so fantastic and Supernaturally just…wasn’t.

Christine: Hereafter by Tara Hudson

Here’s to another year of reading and blogging with good people! Now lets all have some champagne!
