We wanted to do something special for our first post from our new site. Not just a review, and not just a “welcome, here is our blog…please read” – but something that would celebrate our love of YA literature and have you celebrate with us. And what better way to celebrate and rejoice than giving away cool stuff?

Then we had to decide what to give away. Everyone had ideas, and we argued and argued until we decided…why choose? Why not do an entire week of giveaways? When we realized we didn’t have an answer to that question, we knew that was exactly what we should do.

Once we decided to share all our goodies, it was a matter of picking what to share first. The answer was obvious. One series has had all of us salivating. One author every single one of us is obsessed with. We hadn’t been able to wait until the August 31 release date of the introductory novel to Cassandra Clare’s Infernal Devices, Clockwork Angel, so why should y’all?

A few months ago, we posted a very early (and spoiler-free!) review of Clockwork Angel on our old blog. Since then, more of us have gotten a chance to read this amazing start to what is shaping up to be an even more amazing series.

Kate says: When your opening salvo is as spectacular as The Mortal Instruments, it seems hard to even imagine topping it. Then I picked up Clockwork Angel. Tessa grabbed me right away, a strong lead and someone I could root for and sympathize with. As did Will, who Cassandra Clare managed to make as covetable as Jace while still keeping him original and fresh. But the thing that made this novel for me was the strength of the background characters. Charlotte and Henry are so real and relatable (especially to someone in their mid-20s), and goodness me MAGNUS!

Caitlin says: Everyone keeps talking about being Team Will or Team Jem. I’ve even seen some people snub both boys and claim to be Team Tessa. These people have failed to pick out the true star of this book. I am Team Sophie. All the way. No one deserves to have their story end happily more than she does. The story was very artfully crafted to make us believe that Tessa and Will, and to some extent Jem, were the main characters. It is all smoke and mirrors, and a little bit of clockwork. Watch out for Sophie. She’s going to surprise us all and save the day. …that being said, Will was totally better than Jem.

The giveaway for this fantastic book is only open to residents of the US and Canada, but don’t worry, there will be some other big contests this week that will be open internationally.

Now through Thursday at 10pm CST, all you have to do is leave a comment on this entry to enter. If you want additional entries, just follow us on twitter and retweet about the contest (and be sure to let us know your twitter name when you comment here!). Wednesday night, we’ll tally up the number of entries for each person and select a winner who will receive a Clockwork Angel ARC. We’ll next day it to the winner so you can have it a full week in advance of the rest of the world.

Be sure to come back each day between now and Sunday for more opportunities to win some amazing prizes, as well as watch the sections on our site expand.
